Basic SEO Checklist and Keyword Placement

Research Your Keywords:

Tools like SEMrush, Aherfs, UberSuggest, or Keywords Everywhere will support you.

Main Target Keyword:

Post Title– This is the first and most crucial step you have toward achieving success in search traffic because this is what comes up in the search engines when people who are looking for a product or service like yours are trying to find it.

Website URL– Make it clear to Google that your target keyword phrase is exactly what you are talking about by including it in your slug, or the part after your domain.

Meta Description– While this is not a required placement for your keyword, your meta description can intrigue your audience why they should click on your post instead of the others listed. If you can include it here naturally, then do. If not, no big deal.

Image File and Alt Tags- When you save your image file to your computer, name the image after what it is. For example, if the image is of a pink flower, name it so. Don’t use the DSC1936.jpg that Google can’t understand. Instead, use “pink-flower.jpg” with hyphens so Google can tell that it is two distinct words.

Alt tags are used for visually impaired users, so name the alt tag something that would describe the image if you could not see it. For example, a pink flower in a garden bed in front of a modern house. Use your keyword in your alt image description.

Blog Post Copy:

Make sure to use your keyword in your first paragraph and sprinkle it in naturally about every 200-300 words.

One Subheading- use subheadings! Include your keyword in at least one subheading.
